Tickets close to selling out for Oct. 14 Santana tribute concert at lodge

The Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild is proud to present the number one rated Santana tribute band in the country, “Smooth Sounds of Santana,” performing at the Canyon Lake Lodge Saturday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. “Smooth Sounds of Santana” will feature striking renditions of classics such as “Evil Ways,” “Black Magic Woman,” and “Oye Como Va,” plus breathtaking guitar solo ballads.

“This event is already two thirds sold, so those who wish to attend should get tickets soon,” said Guild Program Director Ron Martel. “Good seats are still available.”

“Santana” pioneered a highly original fusion of rock, salsa, jazz and blues. The band’s distinctive sound features melodic, blues-based guitar lines backed by congas and timbales not generally heard in rock music.

Carlos Santana noted that favorite artists of his eclectic band were Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Tito Puente, Rolling Stones and John Coltrane.

The musicians of “Smooth Sounds” will capture the multicultural tone and spirit that have made Santana a rock radio mainstay for decades.

Guild President Travis Montgomery said, “The audience will hear all of Santana’s greatest hits for the pleasure of the casual fan as well as die-hard aficionados.”

Santana’s album Abraxas spent 88 weeks on the Billboard chart. The album was ranked number 207 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time and was also included in the boo 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You die.

Santana’s album Supernatural went 15 times platinum and won eight Grammys including Album of the year as well as three Latin Grammys including Record of the Year.

“If you like Santana, you won’t want to miss this event. They sold over 100 million records, so every song in the set will not only be recognizable, but probably played a special role in your life,” said Ron. “Smooth Sounds” performs tunes from all eras of Santana’s storied career; from the group’s early Woodstock days almost 50 years ago, to Santana’s more recent smash hits like “Smooth,” which was one of the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks.

Gary Albano founded “Smooth Sounds” in Canada, but relocated to southern California. He established a simple stated mission; “To faithfully recreate the music of one of the greatest guitar players ever, Carlos Santana.”

From the tone of that iconic guitar to the sound of the keyboard and Latin percussion, the seven seasoned musicians that make up “Smooth Sounds” say they give it all up on stage. “Judging from the reaction of audiences that have seen us play, we pretty much hit the mark,” says Gary.

Ticket prices to all Guild concerts at the lodge are the same for each event. General admission and Guild sponsor level tickets are $25; VIP tickets with reserved seating are $45.
