The Junior Development Program is a golf instructional program for children ages 4 to 14. It runs every Sunday at 1 p.m. and Wednesday at 4 p.m. There is testing every month to provide students with the ability to move on to a higher level.
Once the student passes all three stages they will be eligible to play with the advanced group. The program is $60 per month with a $100 registration fee. Registration includes first month’s payment, hat and golf shirt.
The following instructional stages are available:
Rookie Stage: This stage is for children ages 4 to 6 and provides an introduction to golf in a safe and game-themed environment. It provides students with the skills necessary to succeed in the next levels. Skills include running, jumping, throwing and catching.
Champion Stage: This stage is for children ages 7 to 10. It introduces students to the basics of putting, chipping and full swing while maintaining proper mechanics. Students will be allowed to play on the course after required tests.
Master Stage: This stage is for children ages 11 to 14. It emphasis on physical components such as flexibility, power and balance. This is the elite level and a majority of the students in this level are participating in local junior events.
In addition to the Junior Development Program, the Golf Pro Shop staff offers individual golf lessons for children ages seven to 17. The cost is $25 per half hour. Reservations are taken at the Golf Pro Shop. For more information, contact the Golf Pro Shop at 951-244-6841, ext. 820.
