Ty Herndon to perform at lodge on Saturday

Ty Herndon, Grammy nominated and Dove award-winning contemporary country music artist, is set to perform in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge tomorrow evening.

Tickets are $25 for general admission; $50 for reserved VIP seats. Doors open at 6:30. Tickets available through the POA website and at Member Services at the POA office. If the show does not sell out by Saturday, tickets will be available at the door.

Ty has a career spanning two decades. He’s charted 17 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Song chart with five million albums sold. His 20-year music career resulted in four number one smash hits: “What Mattered Most,” “Living in the Moment,” “It Must Be Love” and “Loved Too Much.”

In 2010, Ty received a Grammy award nomination in the Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album category for “Journey On.” He also received a Dove award that same year for Best Bluegrass Recorded Song for “When We Fly.”

In 2016, Ty released his latest album, “House of Fire.” The album is a collection of 12 songs that shows a deeper, greater strength from a man who has been there and back and lived to tell about it. The album received critical accolades from the Nashville music community as well as USA Today, Rolling Stone Country and Huffington Post.

Doug Schultz, Canyon Lake resident, producer of Concerts at the Lodge and current concert manager for KSON Country 97.3 FM San Diego, first met Ty Herndon in the late 90s when Ty performed at 4th & B, a concert hall in the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego that Doug managed. He said, “Ty was an up and coming artist at the time who had a few hits plus a number one single, “What Mattered Most,” and the audience loved him. For years we played Ty Herndon on air, he was one of the most requested artists.”
The Ty Herndon Concert will be an up front and personal acoustic performance. Doug explains, “It means the show will use instruments to produce sound through acoustic means as opposed to electric guitars or other instruments, and it gives the Canyon Lake audience that VIP private party feel.”

Lance Allen, who opened the Darryl Worley Concert at the lodge in October 2016, is returning to Canyon Lake to open for Ty Herndon. The local artist started his career at the young age as a singer songwriter in contemporary Christian music. His first album produced three radio hits. His song “He’s There” landed at number three where it remained in the top 10 for 16 weeks.

Lance is the current West Coast Country Music Association’s Country Male Entertainer and Vocalist of the Year. He was recently named Most Promising Male Vocalist, Entertainer and Songwriter at the North American Country Music Association International Competition in Nashville, Tennessee.

The final concert in the 2017 Concert at the Lodge series will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, and will feature rock and blues legend Rick Derringer.

Tickets for this show are on sale now at the POA office and through the POA website at canyonlakepoa.com. Doug will be announcing the 2018 Concert at the Lodge series lineup during this final concert.
