The Canyon Lake Golf Course summer hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Golfers are reminded that all players must check-in and pay at the Golf Pro Shop at all times when playing on the course. To make a tee time reservation, call the Pro Shop at 951-246-1782. Reservations may be made seven days in advance. Annual golf memberships are available to both residents and non-residents.

Women’s Golf Club

The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club members invite all lady golf club members to join in the annual Member Eclectic Tournament on Sept. 12, 14 and 19. The entry fee is $35 per person; signups are taken at the Pro Shop at the country club.

The tournament theme, “Going For The Green,” will remind players that if they hit the green with the fewest shots they may also end up with green in their pockets as winners of the money prizes. Gross and Net winners will be paid in each flight. The first day will be Partner’s Best Ball; 2nd day will be Gross and Net and the final day will be Scotch Doubles with one partner teeing off on the even holes and the other teeing off on the odd holes. Only one ball is used as partners hit alternate shots.

Winners will be announced and lunch with be served following the last day of play. The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club was established in 1971 and is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. The club meets on Tuesdays in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Players must check in before 7:30 a.m.; start time is 8 a.m. In the spring and summer, the club meets at 7 a.m. Major tournaments include the President’s Cup, Club Championship and Senior Tournament. Men’s Golf

The Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club will be holding its Paradise Classic Member Guest Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 9, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Players may choose their own foursome. The entry fee is $110 per person and does not include green fees or cart fees. Signups are taken at the country club. The deadline is Friday, Aug. 25. Lunch and awards will follow the tournament. Awards will be given for Team Skins, Long Drive and Closest to the Pin. A Horse Race will follow lunch.

The Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club is presently 280 members strong. Members meet for play every Wednesday morning. Signups are taken in the Magnolia Room at the country club between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.

In addition to Wednesday games, the club sponsors eight major tournaments throughout the year. Dues include membership in the Southern California Golf Association. Canyon Lake residents and property owners age 18 and older are eligible. The club has added a Junior membership division for males under the age of 18. Family Golf Club

The Family Golf Club promotes the sport of golf bringing together men, women and juniors in an atmosphere of education, camaraderie, fairness and competition in a friendly family oriented environment. The club hosts beginner and youth clinics, tournaments and social events throughout the year. The club’s official golf day is Wednesday at approximately 11:30 a.m. Some members schedule golf days on Mondays, Fridays or Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.

The tournament director works closely with Golf Pro Pat Kemball and his staff to assure tournaments are balanced. Family Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association. It holds open meetings the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. For membership information, call Kevin O’Leary at 951-818-3361. After Lunch Bunch

Thirty-one members played in Friday’s game of Individual Tin Whistle. The game was divided into two flights with the following results:

“A” Flight

1st place: Sam Theodora, 22

2nd place: Hugh Wagoner, 21

3rd place: Lance Brown, 20

4th place: Harry Fritsch, 20

“B” Flight

1st place: Marv Tweedy, 24

2nd place: Hub Watson, 23

3rd place: Jim Paulis, 20

4th place: Jim Magill, 19

There were six winners in the Skins competition: Hugh Wagoner, hole 2; Jim Paulis, hole 9; Tom Fuhrman, hole 14; Jeff Roach, hole 15; Harry Fritsch, hole 17; Lance Brown, hole 18.

Now in its 38th year, the After Lunch Bunch offers a friendly game of golf every Friday throughout the year. The group plays an 18-hole tournament. Entries are open to all male golfers with an established handicap. The entry fee is $5 with an optional 25 maximum Skins game. Tee time is 8 a.m. with signups taken between 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club or by phone at 951- 249-4565 or 951-237-6102.

Junior Development Program

The Junior Development Program is a golf instructional program for children ages 4 to 14. It runs every Sunday at 1 p.m. and Wednesdays at 4 p.m. There is testing every month to provide students with the ability to move on to a higher level. Once the student passes all three levels they are eligible to play with the advanced group. The program is $60 per month with a $100 registration fee. Registration includes the first month payment, hat and golf shirt.

Junior Golf Lessons

Junior golf lessons are available by appointment. Lessons are $25 for a 30 minute session; $100 for five 30 minute sessions; $40 for one hour sessions and $100 for three one hour sessions. Signups are taken at the Golf Pro Shop.

Adult Golf Lessons

The golf professional staff offers golf lessons seven days a week. Adult lessons are $35 for a 30 minute session; $50 for a one-hour session. Three one-hour sessions can be purchased for $135; five one-hour sessions for $200. Reservations are required. 9ers Golf Club

The 9ers Golf Club is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. Ladies who are interested in playing golf and making new friends are invited to play with the 9ers Golf Club; all levels of golfers are welcome. The club meets at 8:30 a.m. on Thursdays in the Magnolia Room at the country club and tees off at 9 a.m. For more information, call Linda Kielty at 951-746-2250.
