Woman’s Club host Mermaid, Pirate Pool Party

The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club held its Mermaid and Pirate Pool Party fundraiser on Saturday at the home of member Lyne Hall. The event raised nearly $1,000 to go towards the Woman’s Club philanthropy projects. The party featured a mermaid themed buffet, swimming, raffle and a remote-controlled boat demonstration by retired U.S. Navy Commander David Brittian and his wife Dharlene.

The next event the Woman’s Club is gearing up for is its 3rd annual Mermaid Festival. The community-wide event will be held Aug. 26 at Indian Beach and will feature the ever popular Cardboard Boat Race, vendors, food, music, contests, kids zone, silent auction and opportunity drawings.

Vendors and sponsors are crucial to the success of the event. Vendors, especially those who specialize in beach or nautical merchandise with a mermaid or pirate angle, are needed. Vendors or clubs who can do face painting and hair braiding are also being sought.

Vendor spaces are available for $40 per space. To reserve a vendor space, contact Sue Collins at 951-246-2773 or suecollinsrealtor@gmail.com.

Sponsors are being sought for contests and opportunity drawings. Sponsorship may be in the form of items, gift cards or services. To inquire about sponsorship, contact Shawna Bowen at shawnakaybowen@aol.com. For general information, contact Mermaid Festival Chair Lyne Hall at 951-210-7633.
