Everyone’s a champ at summer Jr. Golf Camp

More than 180 kids participated in this year’s summer Jr. Golf Camp at the Canyon Lake Golf Course. The camp, sponsored by Golf Pro Pat Kemball and the Pro Shop staff, ran from July 10 to July 14.

Participants were divided by age and skill level. Each day instructors focused on different techniques from putting and chipping to pitching and driving.

Austin Killery had the top score, 56, in the five to six year old division; Noah Geeves had the top score, 81, in the seven to eight year old division; Londyn Laurtizen had the top score, 48, in the nine to 10 year old division; Brayden Byrnes and Jacob Venier had the top score, 59, in the 11 to 18 year old division.

A barbecue was held for the junior golfers and their families on the last day of camp. Volunteers from the Family Golf Club barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers while members of the Women’s Golf Club ran the food line.

After lunch, each camp participant received a medal and a prize. The top five golfers in each division also received a gift card.
