Women’s Golf Club announces Club Champion

The Women’s Golf Club held its Club Championship Tournament on June 13, 15, and 20 with lunch and awards following at the country club.

Inga Loy, with a total of 267, is the Club Champion for the third consecutive year. Inga was given flowers and will receive a diamond on her medallion. Her name will be engraved on the perpetual Club Championship trophy.

Other winners are as follows:

A Flight

1st place: Babette Stubbs, 270; 2nd place: Gerry Meeks, 273; 3rd place: Marilyn Bridges, 279; 4th place: Anita Fairfield, 283.

B Flight

1st place: Darlene Cortez, 292; 2nd place: Alice Ramirez, 299; 3rd place: Donna Nunes, 301; 4th place: Merilyn Murphy, 302.

C Flight

1st place: Ina Pickard, 302; 2nd place: Kay Arth, 315; 3rd place: Linda Hudson 317; 4th place: Ura Furry, 322.

Tournament Chair Ura Furry said, “Thank you to Pat Kemball and his staff, Christina Barton and staff, Ellie Clow, Linda Hudson, Norma Yarbrough, Donna Nunes, and, of course, everyone who played in this three-day event to make this tournament a success.”

The Women’s Golf Club would like to invite all members of the Men’s, Women’s and 9ers’ golf clubs to participate in its Out of Africa Tournament on July 8 at 7:30 a.m.  Players are invited to pick their own foursomes. The entry fee is $35 per person. There will be Gross and Net awards for the Jack and Jill and Jill and Jill divisions. Sign up sheets are in the Pro Shop at the country club. There will also be a Skins game for both men and women.

The club is holding its 18th annual Pink on the Links Breast Cancer Tournament on July 25 with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. All Canyon Lake golfers are welcome to participate. The entry fee is $40 and includes lunch. There will be an additional green fee for non annual members. The format is Goofy Golf with a 4-person scramble. There will be a Ladies Flight, Couples Flight and a Men’s Flight. Prizes will be awarded in each division.

The proceeds from this event will go to Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer recourse center in Murrieta. Michelle’s Place has helped many Canyon Lake women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
