University All Star teams compete at D2 Summit

The Black and Purple Diamonds cheer teams from the University All Stars finished off their season at the invitation only D2 Summit in Orlando, Florida, last month.

University All Stars is owned and operated by Jeremy and Anna Thompson, 19-year residents of Canyon Lake. The teams are coached by Jordan Lies of Canyon Lake and Jillian McFeely of San Diego.

The Purple Diamonds, a junior level two team ages seven to 14, made it to the finals and placed fourth in the nation. The Black Diamonds, a senior level three team ages 10 to 18, had a great routine but fell short of qualifying for the finals.

The D2 Summit is held for gyms that have less than 125 athletes in their competitive program. The event, held at the Walt Disney World  ESPN Wide World of Sports

Complex, had over 950 teams competing from 46 states.

“What makes this even more difficult is that even though they do have another championship for gyms with more than 125 athletes, there are more than double the amount of small gyms in the United States than there are large,” said Jeremy.

“This is an amazing accomplishment and we couldn’t be more proud of our teams and program.”

The University All Stars offer competitive all star teams for athletes of every age and skill level. It’s goal is to encourage strong sportsmanship, positive attitudes, self respect and respect to others. The facility is located off the 15 freeway in the city of Lake Elsinore, CA.
