Canyon Laker Casey MacDonald, son of Bruce and Donna MacDonald, has been accepted into West Point’s prestigious Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) in June. The Temescal Canyon High School junior is one of 1,000 applicants accepted out of 5,000 applicants who applied nationwide.

The one-week seminars are designed to help juniors with their college-selection process, while giving them an idea of the importance of leadership and sound decision-making in their education, careers and lives.

Casey will have the opportunity to experience life at West Point. He’ll live in cadet barracks and participate in virtual-reality war simulation and academic, leadership, athletic and military workshops.

The U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year, co-educational, federally funded undergraduate college located about 50 miles north of New York City. It was founded in 1802 as America’s first college of engineering.
