Choraleers Spring Concert pays tribute to Hollywood

The Canyon Lake Choraleers held their annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 21, in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. According to President Larry Garland, more than 150 attended.

The theme was “Reel Music,” a tribute to Hollywood Motion Pictures and Academy Award winners from 1935 to 2017. Audience members were treated to such classics as “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Moon River” and “Over the Rainbow.”

Scenes from the movies played on a big screen while the songs were performed. It was an audio visual experience the Choraleers had never done before.

During intermission, several theme baskets were raffled off and the Choraleers presented student Courtney Sharkey with a $500 scholarship for the arts.

The Choraleers next concert will be their holiday concert on December 16 at 2 p.m. at the lodge.

The Choraleers is a vocal group of men and women who enjoy singing in a choral group that performs spring and fall concerts, including combinations of selected singers and solo performances. Membership is open to residents and those in nearby communities.
