Children invited to audition for Willy Wonka Jr. play

The Canyon Lake Community Theatre (CLCT) is offering a workshop to prepare everyone equally for the auditions for the all kids play production “Willy Wonka Jr.” All kids that have not yet entered high school are invited to learn a short song and dance routine that will be taught by CLCT board alumnus Ilene Moore. Ilene will cast and direct this year’s summer play.

The workshop will be on Thursday, June 1, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Pool View Room at the lodge. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and shoes and bring $3 for the audition CD.

Auditions will be held Saturday, June 10, in Building B at East Port Park. Kindergarteners and first and second graders are invited to audition from 10 to 11 a.m. or they may simply sign up and be cast without auditioning. All other grade levels can audition from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you can’t make it to the auditions, you may be able to schedule a private audition by contacting Ilene.

The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory will light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale.

Featuring the songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth.

As a reminder there is a production fee of $150.00 with discounts for siblings. This covers the use of costumes, a T-shirt and the cast party. There is also a membership fee of $15.

The show is July 28 through July 30 in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge.
