Women’s Golf Club announces tournament winners

The ladies of the Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club (CLWGC) met for the tenth consecutive year to play in the Senior Women’s Golf Tournament on April 18 and 25. Thirty-seven ladies participated in the two-day tournament. Lunch followed with winners announced in the flights. Marilyn Brdges was the overall Gross winner. Marina Stinson was the overall Net winner. The other winners are as follows:

A Flight Net winners: 1st Cathy Barr; 2nd Mary Burns; 3rd Lorrie Sjomeling.

B Flight Net winners: 1st Clair Bond; 2nd Ura Furry; 3rd Linda Johnson.

C Flight Net winners: 1st Linda Kamashian; 2nd Dawn Haggerty; 3rd Phyllis Weed.

A Flight Gross winners: 1st Sue Sell; 2nd Inga Loy; 3rd Anita Fairfield.

B Flight Gross winners: 1st Marlene Cathro; 2nd Alice Ramierz; 3rd Lila Gann.

The Super Senior had 22 ladies. Marlene Cathro was the overall winner.

Sue Sell won the money poll with a hole-in-one on her first shot of the day on hole 17.

On May 12, CLWGC will be hosting its annual member/guest “Around the World in 18 Holes” Tournament. Members of the Canyon Lake 9ers, Family Golf or any lady with an established handicap is encouraged to participate and will be paired with one of the 18-hole golfers.

The entry fee is $80 and includes a light breakfast, lunch and gross, net and tee prizes. For more information, contact Ura Furry at 951-244-1910.

CLWGC was established in 1971 and is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association (WSCGA). The club meets on Tuesdays in the Magnolia Room at the county club.

Women wishing to play must check in before 7 a.m.; start time is 7:30 a.m. Major tournaments include the President’s Cup, Club Championship and Senior Tournament. For more information, contact Darlene Cortez at 951-244-4751.
