The Canyon Lake Golf Course has several clubs, plus a Junior Golf Program. Tee Time reservations begin at 6 a.m. daily and may be made seven days in advance. Residents may purchase single rounds of golf in the Golf Pro Shop at the country club. Annual golf memberships are available to both residents and non-residents.

Adult Golf Lessons

The golf professional staff offers golf lessons seven days a week. Adult lessons are $35 for a 30 minute session; $50 for one hour session. Three one hour sessions can be purchased for $135; five one hours session for $200. Reservations are required. For group pricing, call the Golf Pro Shop at 951-244-6841, ext. 820.

Women’s Golf Club

On May 12, the Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club (CLWGC) is hosting its annual member/guest “Around the World in 18 Holes” Tournament. Members of the Canyon Lake 9ers, Family Golf or any lady with an established handicap is encouraged to participate and will be paired with one of the 18-hole golfers. The entry fee is $80 and includes a light breakfast, lunch and gross, net and tee prizes. For more information, contact Ura Furry at 951-244-1910.

CLWGC was established in 1971 and is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association (WSCGA). The club meets on Tuesdays in the Magnolia Room at the county club. Women wishing to play must check in before 7:30 a.m.; start time is 8 a.m. In the spring and summer the club meets at 7 a.m. Major tournaments include the President’s Cup, Club Championship and Senior Tournament. Men’s Golf Club

CLMGC has approximately 280 members. The club meets for play every Wednesday morning. Sign up for play is in the Magnolia Room at the country club between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. In addition to Wednesday play, the club sponsors eight major tournaments throughout the year. Dues include membership in the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). Canyon Lake residents and property owners age 18 and older are eligible. After Lunch Bunch

In spite of last week’s heat, 26 golfers teed off in a game of Individual Tin Whistle. Results are as follows:

A Flight: Sam Kim, 25; Jim Paulis, 24; and Jeff Roach, 22.

B Flight: Marv Tweedy, 24; Brian Helmer, 20; and Randy Bonner, 20.

In the “Skins” game there were eight “Skins”: Bill Levis, holes 1 and 7; Marv Tweedy, hole 3; Hugh Wagoner, hole 11; Bill Hallahan, hole 12; Bob Clow, hole 13; Walt Popper, hole 14; and Jim Paulis, hole 17.

On June 2, the “Bunch” will switch to its summer schedule and start teeing off at 8 a.m.

Now in its 37th year, the “After Lunch Bunch” offers a friendly game of golf on every Friday throughout the year to all male golfers with an established handicap. The group plays an 18-hole tournament every Friday. Entries are open to all male golfers with an established handicap.

Entry fee is $5 with an optional 25 maximum “Skins” game. The “Bunches” first group tees off at 10 a.m. with signups being taken between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club or by phone at 951- 249-4565 or 951-237-6102.

Next week the format will be 3 Best Balls of the Foursome and the Committee will be picking the teams. FYI the course record for this game is 182 scored on March 9, 2016 but the foursome of Harry Larson, Don Norris, Dave Smedstad, and Tom D’Amato.
