‘100 Women Strong’ to host fundraiser for charities

The fourth annual “100 Women Strong” luncheon fundraiser will be held on Sunday, May 7, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Canyon Lake lakefront home of Debra Kipp.

“100 Women Strong was started in 2014 by Canyon Lakers Liz Murphy, Becky Ness and Debra Kipp. Their idea is simple: 100 women would donate $100 to local charities in need.

Attendees will hear presentations from four local organizations that directly impact the local community. At the end of the presentations, attendees will have an opportunity to talk with the presenters and learn more about each organization before making a choice of which charity they want to donate their $100 to.

The $100 donation may be given to one organization or be split among two, three or all four of the organization. “Some women choose to give $25 to each of the four charities, others give their $100 to one charity. Donations are made directly to the presenting organizations and it’s up to each women on how they would like to donate their $100,” said Liz.

The organizations are nominate by members of the group in March. A committee selects four from the list of nominations. The selected organizations are announced at the luncheon.

“100 Women Strong” has raised more than $30,000 over the past three years. The Lions Club Bike Project, Calvary Canyon Hills Food Pantry, The Center 4 Life Change and Hope Learning Academy are some of the organizations that have benefited from the “100 Women Strong” fundraisers.

Lunch tickets are $22 and can be purchased at 100womenstrong.myevent.com.
