The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce is an association of businesses and individuals organized to encourage a strong local economy and quality of life by promoting and advancing the community, civic, cultural and educational development of the Canyon Lake area while providing a valuable forum for issues affecting local commerce and the general well-being of the community. Meet the POA Candidates Luncheon

The Chamber will host a “Meet the POA Candidates” luncheon on Wednesday, April 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. This forum will provide an opportunity for the candidates to speak to residents, local business owners and Chamber members. The luncheon will be catered by The Sports Stop and The Cup Above. Lunch is $8. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling the Chamber at 951-244-6124.

Golf Tournament

The Chamber invites the public to participate in its annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 20. Registration begins at 10 a.m. followed by special contests, shotgun start at noon, annual Ball Drop, dinner, awards and raffles.

This year’s registration form has three flights: Open, Senior (60+ all participants) and Jack & Jill (2 women, 2 men). Registration is $100 per player; Canyon Lake Golf Course members pay only $65.

Registration includes rounds of golf, golf cart fee and dinner. The cost to attend dinner only is $25. Completed registration form and payment made payable to the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce should be mailed to the Chamber at 31566 Railroad Canyon Rd., Canyon Lake, CA. 92587. Participants also may sign up at the Golf Pro Shop and Pack, Wrap and Post.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and range from sponsoring a tee or special contest to donating a gift basket for the raffle. Proceeds from this event will go toward the Canyon Lake Junior Golf Program. Gabe Hrab, the PGA pro who started the Jr. Golf Program in 1980, will be in attendance. Ribbon Cutting

The Chamber is holding a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, April 26, at 5:30 p.m. at Signature Dessert, 31574 Railroad Canyon Rd. Several city officials will be in attendance.

Signature Dessert is a new restaurant opening in the Towne Center at the former location of Cacciatore’s Pizza. The restaurant provides a unique experience to customers by introducing a trend-setting new bakery. In addition to offering specialized treats, Signature Dessert offers Pho, egg rolls, waffle burgers, and more. The full menu can be viewed at signaturedessert.com.

Owner Peter Tran said, “We’re more than just serving up amazing breakfasts and dessert. We like to think we’re really in the business of making people happy.”

The Chamber encourages residents to come out and support the new business as well as sample some treats. The official grand opening is scheduled for Friday, April 28.

The 2017 Chamber Board of Directors are: President Jim Randle, Secretary Debby Gagnon, Treasurer Jennie Ehrenkranz, Directors Dolores Badillo, Mike Irvin, Jeanne O’Dell, Matthew Svendsen, Ria Riley and Barry Walker.

Toastmasters Club

The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce Toastmasters Club meets every Tuesday, 12:05 to 1:05 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. The group works on public speaking and leadership skills. “Self confidence and discovering your true authenticity is one of the side effects of being a member of Toastmasters,” said Mike Irvin, founding member of the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce Toastmasters Club.
