City to hold turkey and food Drive on Thursday

The City of Canyon Lake is hosting its 6th annual Frozen Turkey and Food Drive for Helping Our People in Elsinore (HOPE) on Thursday, November 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. Services provided by HOPE help to benefit over 100 families from Canyon Lake. Residents, businesses and clubs are encouraged to participate in the program to enable the community’s most vulnerable residents and their families to enjoy the holidays this year.

Residents who wish to participate may drop off their items at City Hall, 31516 Railroad Canyon Rd. in the Towne Center. The City is unable to store frozen turkeys so they need to be dropped off at the date and time indicated.

Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served at City Hall to those who participate in the food drive. A suggested checklist of items to be included in the grocery bag to complete the holiday dinner includes the following: Frozen turkey, whole frozen chicken, Stuffing mix and gravy mix, canned mushroom soup, canned green beans, canned yams and brown sugar, miniature marshmallows, cornbread mix, hot chocolate and coffee, cake and cookie mix, non-perishable item and other items of choice.
