Library offers resources for CL residents

Recent events at the Library included Preschool Craft and Story Time on October 7, with the theme of “Hoot Owls.” Stories were read and children made hoot owls from paper bags at the craft table. Singing and dancing was led by Mr. Bill at the piano. Everyone was treated to cupcakes.

“Halloween” will be the theme for Miss Ginny’s next Story Time on Friday, October 21, at 11 a.m. Preschool Craft and Story Time is for children ages 3 to 5. The program is designed for pre-school development and includes stories, music, movement and a craft children can make and take home. The program is free. Library membership is not required to attend. Materials will be supplied.

Toddler Story Time meets every Monday at 11 a.m. in the Kids Cove of the Library. This story time is developed for children ages 0 to 3. Hearing words is an important part of the brain development and the group environment builds socialization comfort. After the story time, children are invited to play with the developmental toys and parents often network with others from the community.

Teen activities are on Fridays at 4:30.

Saturdays are Roots to Grow Tutoring and S.A.T. preparation. This activity runs from 10 to 11 a.m. For one hour, students can receive help with school classes or preparation for taking the S.A.T. for college.

The Library offers free online practice tests for teens and adults needing to pass the DMV driving test.

The Library offers free books, large print books, free internet access, reading programs, book clubs and more. All programs at the Canyon Lake Library are free to the public and do not require library membership. Membership is required to check out materials and to use many of the internet programs available from home.

The Canyon Lake Library is located inside the City Hall building. It’s open Mondays, 10 to 7, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 to 6, and Saturdays 10 to 3. It’s closed Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The Canyon Lake Library is a member of the Riverside County Library System (www.rivlib.net) honoring cards and returns from other affiliated libraries.
