‘Hats off’ to those making Car Show a success

More than 250 pre-1973 classic and custom cars and trucks rolled into the Lodge last Saturday, October 8, for the 11th annual Car Show. An estimated 2,500 people were in attendance.

The Car Show, hosted by the Canyon lake Car Club, featured live and silent auctions, entertainment, prize drawings and vendors. The Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar offered a breakfast buffet, special lunch menu and margarita souvenir cups.

According to Car Show Chair Chuck Casey, the raffle and silent auction had record-breaking donations, which helped to raise money for the Progeria Research Foundation. The Family Matters Club handled the 50/50 opportunity drawing and raised a record $1,640. The winner received $820.

The Ski Show was a new addition to the show this year. “It was a hit! The Car Show staff would like to thank ShowCal Skiers for the awesome display and for being such a positive addition to the annual Car Show,” says Chuck.

Car Show Chair Russ Smith says, “It was a great day. There were lots of beautiful cars, terrific vendors, great food and many spectators. A well run show thanks to all the volunteers from the Car Club, POA and community. Hats off to all who made the 11th annual Car Show the success it was.”

The car show concluded with the traditional car cruise around the lake. In the evening, the Car Club hosted a Marti Gras-themed dinner-dance for those who purchased $25 tickets. Those who attended were treated to dinner, live entertainment and goody bags.
