Letter: Larry Greene

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

As we approach November, great interest is generated by the national election. However, as we all know, the largest impact on our daily lives is generated by our local elections.

The City of Canyon Lake is truly at an important crossroads right now. There is talk in some circles of disincorporation of the City as if it would solve all our financial ills. Others are correctly concerned with the loss of our fire station and local response for medical emergencies.

One of the candidates for City Council this year is Larry Greene. Larry’s longtime residence here, his current service as resident of the Emergency Preparedness Committee, and his career in fire fighting and safety, both on the front lines and as an administrator, uniquely qualify him as an individual we really need as a member of the City Council.

His formal education and career position him as a voice and influence that will benefit us in ways that none of the other candidates can match. Larry earned a degree in management and participated in the master’s program for public administration for fire and health SCI. His calm and measured approach to problem-solving will serve us well.

As Larry’s next door neighbor for 20 years, I can tell you that I have the utmost respect for his honesty, integrity and concern for the welfare of this community. As a result of many conversations, I know that he has no personal agenda in seeking the office of City Council. His only goal is to promote a sense of safety, pride and community for those of us who value our “Bit of Paradise.”

I hope others will join me in voting for Larry as a voice of reason on our City Council. I sincerely believe there is no one better qualified to represent the interests of our community.

Barbara Horrigan
