Otis Stoltz

Otis Paul Stoltz passed away on September 14, 2016 at his home in Canyon Lake, surrounded by his family and friends after a very brief illness.

Otis was born in St. Croix, Wisconsin on April 7, 1937. He married Alice “Bunnie” on May 2, 1959; they had two children. Otis served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea as part of the post-war reconstruction effort. He was a crane operator and part of the Operating Engineers Local 12 Union for more than 50 years. He served Local 12 on the advisory board as well as the executive board.

Otis and Bunnie retired to Canyon Lake in 1998. Otis enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle regularly and rode to Sturgis, South Dakota many times. Otis was also very devoted to his church, St. Martha’s Catholic Parish, where he served as an usher. He also volunteered at St. Martha’s Food Pantry every week and greatly enjoyed serving his community.

Otis was preceded in death by Bunnie, his wife of 53 years. He is survived by his sister, Helen (Lyle) Wood of Hudson, Wisconsin; children, Darcy Burke and Paul (Jan) Stoltz of Canyon Lake; two grandchildren, Jordan (Claudia) Stoltz and Marissa Burke of Canyon Lake; one great-granddaughter, Jordyn, and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors.

His funeral mass was celebrated on September 20 at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Murrieta. Private interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Martha’s Food Pantry at 37200 Whitewood Rd, Murrieta, CA  92563 (951-677-6347).
