The Facility Review Committee recently conducted a series of workshops to gauge the community’s interest in future community enhancements as part of a proposed “Long Range Plan.” The purpose of this survey is to allow residents an opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas for amenity enhancements.
Now that the workshops have ended, a survey has been posted at www.canyonlakepoa.com (and is available in paper form in the Member Services Office) asking homeowners to vote for the top five enhancements they would like to see on a Long Range Plan (one survey per tract and lot).
Family Movie Night Tonight
Enjoy Family Movie Night tonight, August 19, at Holiday Harbor. The movie is free; everyone is invited to bring their own chair or blanket to sit on the slope, along with their own food and beverages. Snacks sometimes are available for purchase at the snack bar. The final Movie Nights is scheduled for September 9.
Maui Monday
The very popular gathering at the Lodge known as Maui Monday will be held Monday evening of Labor Day weekend, September 5. This Taco Tuesday type of event attracts a huge crowd and features Polynesian dancers, food, drinks, music and games with DJ Mike Shroyer.
Main Gate Signage
Proposals are coming in to the Association for new Main Gate signage. Three concepts have been proposed thus far and are posted under “Projects” at www.canyonlakepoa.com. Members are asked to email their thoughts on these concepts to projects@canyonlakepoa.com. or call 951-244-6841, ext. 210.
Boating Violators
Director Paul Queen announced at the August Board Meeting that Directors have authorized Marine Patrol to crack down on boaters who are violating boating rules. There have been reports of boats going full speed through the East Bay and 5 mph areas of the Main Lake. There also have been many complaints about excessive wakes. Paul issued the warning that if anyone is caught violating boating rules, they will be subject to fines of up to $500 and will be brought under review to have their boating privileges revoked for a year.
President Yarbrough added to that that towed inflatables are not allowed in the skiing areas of the lake, including the Jump Lagoon and the North Ski Area.
New at the Lighthouse
Mark Scheck was hired to serve as Director of Food and Beverage and began working July 6. Tony Sasaki started working July 12 as Executive Chef. Together, Mark and Tony have more than 40 years combined experience in the business of hotel and restaurant management.
The Lighthouse has listed its new hours as follows:
Monday through Thursday: 5 to 9 p.m.
Friday: 5 to 10 p.m.
Saturday: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday Brunch: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sunday Dinner: 3 to 8 p.m.
The Bar and Lounge will remain open for one hour after the restaurant closes; however, the kitchen will be closed so food service will not be available.
The updated dinner menu is available Monday through Sunday nights. The new menu can be seen online at www.canyonlakelighthouse.com.
The Lodge has DJs and live bands booked to play on Friday evenings. “Funk Fridays,” led by Canyon Lake’s own Koolboy will continue every first and third Friday of the month on August 19, September 2, September 16, October 7 and October 28.
Two Guys and a Chick will be playing on alternate Fridays. This local cover band features Canyon Lake’s own Aprile DeAnne as vocalist, Steve Adler as vocalist/guitar and Jay Appleby on drums. This band is scheduled to perform August 26, September 9, September 23, October 14 and October 28.
Darryl Worley Concert
The Association’s “Concerts at the Lodge” series is excited to introduce its next concert starring country music artist Darryl Worley on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available now for purchase at the Members Services office (credit card transactions only) during normal business hours, or by visiting www.canyonlakepoa.com.
VIP tickets are $55 per person, which includes express entry with preferred seating closest to the stage and a private VIP bar. VIP Members will be automatically entered in a special VIP-only drawing for a chance to win an autographed poster board signed by Darryl Worley. General Admission tickets are $30 per person.
In addition to the concert, the Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar will be offering a special country-themed buffet that will replace its normal weekend dinner menu.
