After Lunch Bunch

Hot weather continues to plaque the After Lunch Bunch Friday golf games. With last Friday’s temperatures reaching triple digits, the old-timers still managed to get in 18 holes and be off the course before it got over the 100 mark. The game was Individual Tin Whistle in two flights:

A Flight – 1st: Joe Strong, 28; 2nd: Bell Levis, 26; 3rd: Bobby Gunter, 24

B Flight –  1st: Jim Musser, 25; 2nd: Marv Tweedy, 22; 3rd  Bob Tice, 22

Skins winners were Bob Tice, Oscar Rowland, Chuck Hudson, Joe Strong and Lance Brown. After last week, the ALB Committee made a rule change requiring all ALB golfers must play from the Blue Tees if they want to enter the skins contest.

Another change recommended by Golf Pro Pat Kemball has play under the rule of “Lift, Clean, & Place” while in the closely-mowed areas from tee to green.

Next Friday will be Two Man Tin Whistle. Players may pick their own partner or foursome, and all will play from the Green Tees. The course record for this game is 47 set on December 9, 2015 by Brian Helmer and Joe Washle.

The After Lunch Bunch is a weekly Friday game for any male golfer with a handicap. It is on summer schedule with the first tee time at 8 a.m. Sign up between 6:30 and 7:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room or by phone at 249-4565 or 237-6102.
