30-day Trip to the Northwest

With no idea where they would camp along the way, Scott and Gaye Enochs started a road trip heading towards Seattle last month, up “the most beautiful coastline” on Highway 1. Along the way to the Northwest, they visited with friends and made new friends. Scott says, “We stopped at every breathtaking view we could and, believe me, there were many.”

Since they forgot to bring along a copy of The Friday Flyer to take pictures with, the Enochs made up their own temporary substitute! On the central coast, they stopped at Hearst Castle and viewed playful otters and elephant sea lions. They also stopped in Napa Wine Country.

Before entering Oregon, the Enochs had a chance to visit with “good ‘ol Paul Bunyan and his blue bull Babe” in Klamath, California. One of their stops in Oregon was at the Tillamook Cheese Factory to have some cheese and ice cream. Then it was on to the state of Washington where they visited Seattle and went to the Olympic National Park in Brinnon.

From there, the couple started heading south, stopping at Crater Lake and Mt. Saint Helen’s. Scott says they “topped Oregon off” by visiting with an old friend he hadn’t seen since the ‘70s.

They also spent two days on Lake Shasta and rented jet skies; then a night in Reno and a few days in Mammoth. “Whew, and we made it back!”
