Learn to Ride Day to honor John Ruppert

The Wakeboard Club will host a Learn to Ride Day on Sunday, June 26, starting at 9 a.m. in the North Ski Area. The day is devoted to instruction in wakeboarding, wakeskating and safe boating. Staff members are on hand to provide training for any level of rider. With the help from sponsors, the club provides boats and equipment for the day. Instruction is scheduled to end at 4 p.m. The cost is $15 per person.

The day will honor the memory of John Ruppert, and all proceeds will be given to John’s family. In addition, “In memory of” stickers will be available for a donation to show support for this friend and neighbor. John died June 9 in an electrocution accident while house-boating with his family on Lake Powell.

Wakeboard Club President Dave Clarke says, “John was a devoted family man and board member of the Canyon Lake Wake Board Club. He was the first one to offer a helping hand when things needed to get done for events and Learn to Ride days.”

The next Learn to Ride Day is scheduled for July 24. Wakeboard competitions will be held July 16, August 27 and September 18. For more information about the Wakeboard Club, visit canyonlakewake.com.
