A19-PIC-2-Spotlight-Jasen-Williams A19-PIC-1-Jasen-WilliamsJasen Williams, a home-schooled student and teen columnist for The Friday Flyer, has been involved in home-school programs at Calvary Murrieta Christian Academy, Biola University Torrey Academy and Revival Christian Academy.

Jasen achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America in July 2015 after coming up in the ranks of Cub Scout Pack 346 and Boy Scout Troop 2157.

Also in 2015, he received the Scholar Athlete Award and the Golden Award: Life in the Spirit from Calvary Murrieta Christian School. In addition, he is a semi-finalist in the Poetry Nation’s National Amateur Poetry Competition. His poem, “Fallen Soldier’s Memorial,” will be published in the upcoming book, “Where the Mind Dwells.”

Jasen’s community service activities included working with Jacob’s House of Temecula, an organization that helps families of those hospitalized with trauma tic medical needs. Jasen spent approximately 200 hours on a beautification project that included painting and fencing the backyard pool area.

He also assisted with landscaping, fence repair and parking lot expansion on the Santa Rosa Plateau Reserve. He founded and facilitated monthly meetings for like-minded students working on creative writing projects. In that capacity, he invited and hosted a published author to visit and speak with the discussion group.

In addition, Jasen was treasurer of the ASB Student Council at Calvary Murrieta Christian School from 2014 to 2015.

Jasen’s hobbies and interests include philosophy, reading, camping, backpacking, hiking and kayaking. In addition to writing for The Friday Flyer, Jasen was a Campus Facilities Aide for Biola Youth Academics classes at the Murrieta campus.

He plans to attend the University of California Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business and participate in the U.S. Army Delta Company ROTC program on campus.
