First Taco Tuesday draws large, festive crowd

With warm temperatures and a cooling breeze, the first Taco Tuesday of 2016 brought several hundred people to the Lodge and Sunset Beach for an evening of entertainment, fun, friendship and, of course, food. This popular event will be held from 5 to 8:30  p.m. every Tuesday through August 2.

Buffet lines are set up in the lower level of the Lodge offering tacos, enchiladas, tostada salads, hot dogs, hamburgers and pulled pork sandwiches, plus sides. The indoor and portable bars also are open. Guests can purchase refillable Taco Tuesday logo cups for $14 with margarita and $4 for refills.

Roanne Grasso of ABC Bounce says the snack bar has brought back Hawaiian Shave Ice with a dozen popular flavors, along with cotton candy, popcorn and caramel mocha Frappuccinos. The snack bar also sells wristbands ($3) for children to use the jumper slide.

Good Time Entertainment DJ Mike Shroyer provides music each week, along with his popular dance-along contests, trivia contests and other games. ShowCal Skiers will offer ski shows on select weeks, the first on June 21.

Taco Tuesday can get very busy and parking can be tough to find in the first few weeks. However, to help those who have to park farther away, a golf cart shuttle service is available. The shuttle picks up and drops off on the Lighthouse/Canyon Club loop and at the Lodge entry.
