Family Movie Night is tonight at Holiday Harbor

The first Family Movie Night of summer is tonight, June 10, starting at dusk (between 8 and 8:30) at Holiday Harbor. The feature presentation will be “The Peanuts Movie,” starring Charlie Brown, the boy who always tries his best against seemingly impossible odds. This movie is rated G.

Families are invited to bring blankets and chairs to spread out on the slope, as well as snacks and drinks. The Family Matters Club also will be selling snacks.

Future Movie Nights are scheduled for June 24 (“The Lion King”), July 8, August 5, August 19, and September 9.

4th of July at Campground

There is a lottery system to reserve sites at Happy Camp for the 4th of July. Members may visit the Campground Office between Saturday, June 11, and Friday, June 17, during office hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed Sunday) to fill out a ticket for the lottery. There will be one lottery entry per tract and lot.

The drawing will be held Saturday, June 18, at 10 a.m. at Happy Camp. Members must be present for the drawing. Upon being issued a reservation for the holiday weekend, a $30 nonrefundable deposit will be required.

Reservations are not site specific and are on a first-come basis. A three-day minimum reservation for July 3, 4 and 5 is required. Cash and credit are the only forms of payment accepted.

Forty sites are available. Waterfront with full hookups are $40. Off-water with full hookups are $35. Off-water with electric and water only are $30. Extra car fee is $5 per car.

4th of July Table Lottery

Signups for a chance to win a table reservation at Holiday Harbor on July 4th will be taken June 18 to 24 at the Member Services Office. The lottery will be on June 25 and members must be present to win. Holiday Harbor is one of the nicest places around the lake from which to view the fireworks show.

Main Gate Construction

Work on the Main Gate is wrapping up and expected to be completed within the next few weeks. Upon completion, there will be three entrance lanes and two new options for members to access the community.

RFID Transponder – The far right lane will be for vehicles equipped with a small RFID Transponder which will automatically open the gate. The RFID Transponder can be purchased for $20 per vehicle at the Member Services office. Please note, vehicle must be present for staff to apply the transponder. This is a one-time purchase.

POA Proximity Card – The center lane and pedestrian sidewalk access gates will be equipped with POA Card proximity readers for quicker access. To use this feature members will need to obtain a new POA Card from the Member Services Office.

Lighthouse Restaurant

New hours in the Lighthouse Restaurant dining room are:

Friday: 5 to 10 p.m.

Saturday: 5 to 10 p.m.

Sunday Brunch: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hours in the Bar and Lounge are:

Sunday through Thursday: 5 to 9 p.m.

Friday: 5 to 11 p.m.

Saturday: 12 to 11 p.m.

The kitchen is open during Bar and Lounge hours serving off the Crazy $8.88 menu. Regularly scheduled specials such as Pasta Night and Taco Tuesday will remain, with seating in the Bar and Lounge.

Outrigger Park Playground

Construction is underway on the new ship-themed playground equipment at Outrigger Park; however, playground Installation has been delayed due to a phone line being damaged during construction. The delay will postpone the ribbon-cutting ceremony from June 9 to a future date. During construction, residents are asked to avoid the playground area.

The new playground equipment includes a ship-themed playset with a wind sail that acts as a shade cover for part of the equipment and playground surface. Adjacent to the play equipment will be a matching swing set. The installation of modernized play equipment and ground cover will allow this playground to be more accessible and family friendly.

Suzy Bogguss Concert

Tickets for the next “Concerts at the Lodge” series concert starring Suzy Bogguss are on sale. The concert will be on July 30, at 7 p.m. at the Lodge. VIP tickets are $55 per person, which includes a private entrance with preferred seating closest to the stage and a separate VIP bar; and $30 per person for General Admission. Tickets are available online at www.canyonlakepoa.com or at Member Services (credit card transactions only) during normal business hours.

Swim Lessons

Starting June 13, weekly swim lessons will be offered at the Lodge pool to children of all ages and levels. Lessons will be 30 minutes long, Monday through Friday, at either 10:15 or 11 a.m. One weekly session is $70, the second week is $40 and the third week is free; OR first child is $70 per week and second child is $40 per week. Families (two children or more) get one free week. Sign up at the pool. (See schedule at the end of article.)

Mommy and Me Water Class is $35 and offered Monday through Friday at 11:45 a.m. the week of June 27 through July 1, or the week of August 1 to 5.

Water Polo classes will be available for youth who can swim the full 25-yard length of the pool. The cost is $45 per class. Adult swim lessons will be available upon request for beginners or those who would like to perfect their technique.

POA Exercise Classes

Classes can be purchased at Member Services or the Pool Office. Instructors cannot accept payment. To learn more about each class, visit canyonlakepoa.com.

  • Water Aerobics meets Monday through Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the pool. Cost is $2 per class or $25 per month for unlimited classes.
  • Canyon Lake Fit Camp meets Tuesday and Thursday at 7 a.m. at Holiday. The class is $99 per month; first class is free.
  • Funk Fitness meets Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m., and Thursday evening at 7:15 p.m. All classes meet at the Lodge. Class punch cards are $35 for five classes; $70 for 11 classes.
  • Zumba meets Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. Cost is $35 for five classes; $40 for 10 classes.
  • Evening Yoga meets Monday at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. Cost is $25 for five classes; $40 for 10 classes.
  • Morning Yoga meets Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Sunset Beach Room at the Lodge. Cost is $25 for five classes; $40 for 10.
  • Line Dancing – Beginning meets Tuesday at 2 p.m.; Intermediate meets Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. Cost is $20 for five classes; $40 for 10.
  • Dancercise meets Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. This class is free.
