Fiesta Day Parade 2016

The annual Fiesta Day celebration has marked the unofficial start of summer in Canyon Lake for 43 years. Held last Saturday, May 28, under sunny skies and what many called “nearly perfect weather” (once the May gray disappeared), this year’s Fiesta Day was a blast from the past with the theme of “Flashback Fiesta.”  Although the official numbers are not yet available, officials estimate that more than 7,000 residents and their guests enjoyed the large variety of activities, shows, food and more that the day offered.

The day began with the traditional Fiesta Day parade, which ran up Canyon Lake Dr. to the Lodge grounds. Throngs of parade-watchers lined the street to watch classic cars with dignitaries, bands, floats, boats, horses, clubs, decorated golf carts and more. Children stood with bags and buckets ready to fill with candy thrown by parade participants. American flags waved and people cheered as the parade passed by.

Here are a few pictures of the morning’s parade participants and crowds, taken by The Friday Flyer Photographer Donna Kupke, Donna Ritchie, Mike Clary and others.
