Get resources to care for the aging Monday

On Monday, May 23, Mary Hrinko of the Riverside County Office on Aging, Family Care Support Program will be at the Canyon Lake Library to share her knowledge of resources and programs with an emphasis on caring for aging parents. The program begins at 3 p.m. in the City Multi-purpose Room, downstairs from City Hall. It will include a question-and-answer session. Refreshments will be provided by A Caregiver Senior Care. This program is free and open to everyone.

Today, May 20, Preschool Craft and Story Time with Miss Ginny will provide stories, music and a craft with the theme, “The Circus.” The fun begins at 11:30 a.m. in the City Multi-Purpose Room. Dance, sing, listen to stories and make a craft to take home. The program is developmentally appropriate for ages 3 to 5.  Participants sign in at the library to receive their program name tag.

Every Saturday, from 11 a.m. to noon, the Roots to Grow Tutoring program has volunteer tutors available to help children in grades K-8 with school subjects.

Tomorrow, May 21, also is the last day of the Buck-a-bag Book Sale, selling donated books. All proceeds go to the Friends of the Canyon Lake Library to support the children’s programming and materials.

Mondays, at 11 a.m., Toddler Story Time is provided for children under 3.

Wednesdays, at 11 a.m., is set aside for the Canyon Lake Knitters, a craft group for all ages and skill levels. Participants supply their own materials and tools. If just beginning, come select a project and discover what materials and tools are recommended.

The Spanish Time Program is temporarily suspended due to the unavailability of the instructor. The program will resume; however, the exact date is yet to be determined.

The Canyon Lake Library is located inside the City Hall building. It’s open Mondays, 10 to 7, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 to 6, and Saturdays 10 to 3. It’s closed Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The Canyon Lake Library is a member of the Riverside County Library System (www.rivlib.net) honoring cards and returns from other affiliated libraries. It has a Facebook page.
