9ers Golf presents scholarships to two students

On May 13, the 9ers Golf Club held a progressive dinner during which scholarships were presented to two Canyon Lake students. This was the first year the 9ers held a Scholarship Tournament and raised money to present scholarships.

Spokesperson Kathy Sanchez says, “The club was honored to award and recognize these students who have worked extremely hard both academically and in the sport of golf.”

The first scholarship award of $2,500 went to Hunter Newlin. Hunter is graduating from Temescal Canyon High School and will be attending William Jessup University near Sacramento.

The second scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Tanner Shuman. Tanner currently attends Mt. San Jacinto Junior College and will be transferring to Cal State San Marcos.

“The 9ers Golf Club would like to express its sincere gratitude to all who supported us in this endeavor,” says Kathy. “Your generosity truly made this possible.”

Ladies who would like to play with the 9ers Golf Club are invited to contact the Pro Shop or Linda Kielty at 951-202-5046. All levels of golfers are welcome. The club meets each Thursday, at 9:30 a.m., in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club. They tee off at 10. Starting May 26, ladies should arrive by 8 a.m., with tee-off at 8:30.
