‘Art at the Lake’ is coming May 21 and 22

Canyon Lake Art Association cordially invites residents to the 2016 Art at the Lake event, to be held at the Senior Center on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The yearly event is held in Canyon Lake as a way to showcase the work of local artists.

Spokesperson Kristene Robertson says, “It is also hoped that it will help stimulate an interest for others to become involved in and support the cultivation of art for artists of all ages and genres. This is a great opportunity to spend your leisure time talking to the artists, enjoying refreshments, and viewing a wide array of beautiful, original art in various genres.”

This is a free event. Some artists’ work will be available for purchase; others may offer private lessons, workshops or opinions concerning the varied art field. Tickets for an opportunity drawing will be available for purchase both Saturday and Sunday, along with a silent auction held on Sunday.

Winners do need to be present for the drawings, which will be held both days at 3 p.m.

Additionally this year CLAA is excited to be hosting live music by guitarist Jarryd Ramborger, along with live art by Therese Daniels. On Saturday, Therese will create live black and white portraits on newsprint for a $5 donation to CLAA. Also on Saturday, visitors will be able to purchase tickets for an opportunity drawing for a chance to win a 16 x 20 portrait painting in acrylic to be done on Sunday by Therese. Winner must be present on Sunday for the live painting. Drawings are worth at least $25 and the portrait is valued at approximately $375.
