Sierra Park is a popular afternoon place to be

Warmer weather and longer days give families the opportunity to take advantage of the many outdoor amenities in Canyon Lake. One of the most popular locations for families to kick up their heels and let children work off energy is Sierra Park.

The POA has been upgrading equipment in most of the parks r, and children are taking full advantage of the new playground structures.

Sierra Park, located at 29475 Vacation Dr., is one of the larger parks in the community. In addition to the new playground with climbing structures, slides, merry-go-round and swings, the park offers Frisbee golf, several barbecues and picnic tables, beach volleyball, a restroom building, paved parking, boat dock, sand beach with roped-off swimming area and lots of shady trees and grass.

Children, as children often do, gravitate to each other and play together – a great way to make new friends. For parents, it’s an opportunity to meet as well.

For those without children, parks are a peaceful place to relax and unwind. The lapping of the water, the sounds of nature – away from traffic, vacuums, and television – offer a special something to both body and mind.

Whether it’s yoga, gymnastics, throwing a football, fishing, reading or watching the kids play, Sierra Park – or any Canyon Lake park – is a great place to be!
