Margie Zingg will be the ‘Elegant Lady 2016’

Janelle Basham, co-chair of the Miss Canyon Lake Scholarship Pageant,  announced this week that the upcoming Miss Canyon Lake Scholarship Pageant on May 21 will “recapture” a favorite title: “Elegant Lady.”

Janelle says, “This title has been held in the past by such wonderful women in our community as Cyndi Hermanns, Marti Norris and Shirley Beuttas. This year we are very excited about starting a new tradition where the Elegant Lady is chosen based on her commitment and service to our community. Elegant Lady will reign with our Royal Court and, yes, she will have a beautiful crown!”

The Canyon Lake Scholarship Pageant is program that is designed to mentor young women and promote community service. With that in mind, Janelle and co-director CoCo Morrison have named Margie Zingg as Miss Elegant Lady 2016.

Janelle says, “Margie has lived in Canyon Lake for over 35 years. She is known and loved by so many in our community. This lovely, smiling woman lights up a room when she walks in. She has a zest for life – and her personality and love for life are simply contagious.”

Janelle adds, “I am one of her biggest fans and I want to be just like her when I grow up. The little girls on the court are simply going to love her. I know I do. We cannot think of a more positive person to mentor our young women than Margie.”

Now 84, Margie has poured herself into her community, family and friends throughout her life. Her children are Mike and Robyn Zingg, Dave and Janice McCrory, Clarence and Bonnie Zingg and Fred and Tammy Kramer. She has 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Margie recently became a new bride to John Williams, manager of Meadowbrook RV Park. She has been swinging around the dance floor in her Twirlers Dance Club skirts for more than 30 years. She golfs and is in the pool shooting club. She is a 2nd Degree Black Belt and a World Champion for ladies over 60 in Taekwondo.

“Elegant Lady” won’t be her first special title. Margie also has been crowned Mrs. Chili Pepper, Mrs. Octoberfest, Mrs. California Sunshine and Citizen of the Year.

Janelle says, “Margie Zingg loves Canyon Lake and has touched the minds and hearts of so many in our community. We are so excited to have her represent us as Elegant Lady 2016. You are all invited to come and watch Margie be crowned on May 21st at the Lodge.”
