9ers Valentine Tournament

“Love was in the air” last Thursday as the 9ers Golf Club hosted its annual Valentine’s Day Tournament.

Spokesperson Kathy Sanchez says this is one of the 9ers’ most popular tournaments, drawing players from many areas of the community, Including the Tuesday Work Group and Woman’s Golf Club, with special guests coming from as far as Glendora.

Kathy says, “The participation was great, and the competition was tough.” Four places were awarded with a three-way tie for 1st place, which resulted in a card-off. The tournament was followed by a meal and prize drawing.

The club thanks Tournament Chair Teresa Roberson and committee members Rose Girard, Victoria Shankland and Margie Villaluz. The restaurant staff and Head Pro Pat Kemball also contributed to the success of the tournament.

Kathy says, the 9ers Golf Club is devoted to community, education and promoting golf. The Club is currently setting up a scholarship fund for 2016. This scholarship will be presented to a local student at the end of this school year to further the student’s education and love of golf.

“We are happy to announce we raised $208 for the scholarship fund by selling 50/50 tickets at the Valentine Tournament,” says Kathy. “Everyone was so generous, especially Rose and Steve Girard who graciously donated back to the fund their 50 percent winnings.”
