Girl Scouts collecting donations for animal shelter

Girl Scout Troops 2425 and 2510 are collecting donations for Animal Friends of the Valleys this Sunday, December 6, at the Lodge Tree-Lighting Festival. The girls will accept donations between 4 and 7 p.m.

Donation items needed for the shelter include:

• IAMS dog or cat food
• Kitty litter
• Blankets and towels
• Kong toys and peanut butter for afternoon treats
• Laundry detergent (HE type)
• Bleach
• Dish detergent (not antibacterial)
• 34-gallon black trash bags/leaf bags for the over-sized garbage cans on site
• Interior and exterior clocks
• Stand-up vacuums with bags

Velour blankets (These are not only comfy for the animals but do not capture the hair like fleece does. don’t weigh as much as a wet towel, which speeds laundry times.)
