Sandra Lee “Sandy” Wagoner passed away October 12, 2015.

Sandy was a survivor. She survived open heart surgery, breast cancer, a stroke and carotid artery replacement, finally succumbing to uterine cancer.

Sandy was born October 20, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas. She moved to Gardena, California when she 10 years old. She attended Washington High School where she met her future husband, Hugh Wagoner. They were married  February 24, 1956.

They moved to Canyon Lake in 1981 where Sandy was active in bowling, with a 145/150 average. She also loved golf and helped many ladies improve their game. She carried an 18 handicap and had two holes-in-one. She was very active with junior golf week.

Sandy started the first Brownie troop in Canyon Lake. She was a bookkeeper for Canyon Lake Insurance, for McDonald’s in Lake Elsinore and Sun City, and for a wholesale contractors supply company. She also loved her poker machines at any casino and had numerous Royal Flushes.

In addition to her husband of almost 60 years, Hugh, Sandy is survived by son Steven Wagoner and his wife Kelly of Canyon Lake; daughter Laura Stark and her husband Jim of Tuscany Hills; daughter Leona Wagoner of Las Vegas; and five grand children: Kellen Wagoner, David Kelly, Korey Wagoner, Christian Salazar and Althea Wagoner, who Sandy and Hugh raised from a baby to her graduation from Cal State Fullerton, Magna Cum Laude in 2013. They also are expecting a great-granddaughter, Laura Jane Kelly, in November.

Sandy made family her top priority and loved them fiercely. She has been visited by many friends and the family is extremely grateful for their love and support. They also cannot say enough good words about her Hospice care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the East Gate Activities Center in Canyon Lake on Sunday, October 18, at 2 p.m.
