Jr. tennis players succeed in outside tourneys

Canyon Lake tennis players Kaylin Kielty, Haley Kielty and Gracie Sell have recently won several USTA tournaments for Junior divisions. Kaylin won the 31st annual Fallbrook Tennis Tournament and the UC Irvine Tournament. Haley recently won the Murrieta Tennis Tournament, and Gracie recently won the Dana Hills Tennis Tournament.

According to spokesperson Bobby Kielty, USTA tournaments are the toughest tournaments to win, with the best competition from all of Southern California.

He notes, “The girls also went to the UCLA tennis camp and represented Canyon Lake well by winning ‘Campers of the Day.’ They played so well that people at the camp were wondering where this small city of Canyon Lake is. All three girls have been taking private/group lessons from Head Pro Baba Soysa and the hard work has definitely paid off.”

Tennis Club President Marga Kidd says Bobby is the Tennis Club’s new Junior Program manager and John Sell is the co-manager. Parents who are interested in getting their children involved in the Junior Program can contact Marga or Bobby. Players must be rated and go through Baba for placement in the appropriate level.

Bobby says, “The Canyon Lake Tennis Club has been producing some excellent Junior players. Baba has been doing an excellent job teaching the Juniors how to play tennis. He focuses on the correct form and technique to give his students the best chance to win. His style of teaching creates toughness in the kids which correlates to victories on the court.”
