Golfers enjoy 7th annual Pismo Golf Getaway

A large group of Canyon Lake golfers escaped the high temperatures of Canyon Lake in late August for the 7th annual Pismo Golf Getaway in cool Pismo Beach. The event was a four-day getaway with a two-day tournament at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.

According to spokesperson Travis Montgomery, the weather was in the mid to high 70s with sunshine all day and

a mild breeze in the afternoons. “It was perfect weather for golf,” he says.

Most of those attending stayed at the Oxford Suites Hotel where they enjoyed comfortable rooms, a full cooked breakfast each morning and complimentary evening cocktails and appetizers. A few chose to stay at one of the RV parks in the area.

The tournament had 76 golfers in three flights each for men and women and paid over 50 percent of the field with prize money, skins and closest-to-the-pin winners. Walking away with 1st prize awards in the women’s flights were Lou DeYoung in A flight, Ellie Clow in B flight and Sandy Coleman in C flight.

Winners in the three men’s flights were David Wagner in A flight, Carlos Ramirez in B flight and Jim Paulis in C flight. The awards were presented at a banquet at the Cypress Ridge Pavilion where all were treated to barbecued tri tip steak and chicken along with all the fixings.

The tournament committee was made up of Joe and Linda Kamashian, Travis and Valerie Montgomery, Don and Anne Norris and Pat and Brenda Kemball. For additional details and photos on the tournament, visit www.pismogolfgetaway.com.
