After Lunch Bunch Golf

While the course is closed in October for over-seeding, the After Lunch Bunch has arranged for three Friday games to be played at local courses. On October 9, the group will travel to The Legends Golf Club (Temeku). On the 16th members will play at Dos Lagos in Corona, and on the 23rd they will be at The Golf Club at Rancho California (SCGA).

All three games are set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start, with the format being Individual Tin Whistle. The total cost for the three events is $130 and covers the green fees, cart and entry fees. There will be an optional 18 Max. Skins game. Those wishing to play in these games should contact Jim Magill at 951-237-6102 or Bob Stinson at 951-249-4565. Deadline for entering is Friday, October 2.

Last Friday, in temperatures that reached triple digits, 20 ALBers braved the hot and humid conditions to compete in the game of 2 Best Balls and 3 on the Par 3’s. Results were as follows:

1st: Hal Stiffler, Lee Lilly, Jim Magill and Ray Freyre, 127

2nd: Ed Doidge, Bill Hallahan, Harry Larson and Randy Bonner, 127

Winners in 18 Max. Skins were Ray Freyre, Randy Bonner and Terry Loy.

The format for next week’s game is Individual Tin Whistle; players can pick their own foursome.

The After Lunch Bunch’s weekly game is open to all Canyon Lakers with an established handicap. The “Bunch” plays every Friday. Signups take place between 7:15 and 8 a.m. on Friday mornings in the Magnolia Room, or by phone at 249-4565 or 237-6102. The entry fee is $5; there is an optional skins game for an additional $5.

Women’s Golf

The Women’s Golf Club meets regularly on Tuesdays to play 18 holes of golf. CLWGC is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association, responsible for handicapping services for members. Men’s Golf

The Men’s Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) and holds regular open meetings the first Wednesday of each month in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club.

9ers Golf

The 9ers Golf Club is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. The group tees off at 10 a.m. on Thursdays for nine holes of golf. Any level golfer is welcome, including those who’ve only had a few lessons. Be in the Magnolia Room 30 minutes before tee time. Family Golf Club

The Family Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). It holds open meetings the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club.  Members play Wednesday afternoons.
