Letter: Time for Change

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

Expanded censorship. Our POA attorneys chose to give us a lecture on civility at Tuesday’s open meeting. Strangely, at no time did they mention that any so called “unrest” that occurred at the August 4 meeting was caused by the Board ignoring our Bylaws and refusing to put the Main Gate million dollar project to a vote and, more disturbingly, Dave Eilers’ vitriol remarks about a homeowner trying to voice her opinion.

Now we are told, it’s not our meeting and we are only to observe the Board do its work? Not only that, if you criticize the GM or CFO’s work, you are threatened with a fine and put on notice that it “constitutes intentional infliction of emotional distress?”

I think our attorneys failed to realize that we are recalling this Board and that their behavior has awakened a giant within the community since homeowners now realize that a minority interest group has been taking advantage of our community for years.

One of my objectives as your Director will be to break up the attorney monopoly that exists by entering into new contracts with several attorneys in which they not only have a fiduciary responsibility to the POA and Directors but also have a general responsibility to the homeowners because they are the owners of the POA and it is their money which pays their huge salaries. The attorneys did show us that the time for change is now. I encourage you to vote yes for the recall and yes for George Irvine for Director.

George Irvine
