What’s next now that Taco Tuesday has ended?

As the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end.” And so it goes with Canyon Lake’s weekly summer party – Taco Tuesday. At the final Taco Tuesday of summer, the Family Matters Club held a sand castle-building contest and Good Time Entertainment offered its always popular kids’ dance contests. ABC Bounce (kids zone and snack bar) gave the winners free cotton candy.

The topic of this week’s The Friday Flyer survey question was: “What community events do you enjoy the most?” Attendees also were asked if they planned to attend next week’s final summer party, Maui Monday, a free event for the whole family that will take place at the Lodge and Sunset Beach on Labor Day, September 7, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Every month brings a different set of activities and events for residents and their guests. The Car Show, Oktoberfest, Renaissance Fair and Parade of Frights are just around the corner.

Linda Hamilton, at left, says she goes to everything and enjoys the concerts, parades, shows and all the events. She says she takes advantage of many amenities including the pool, the lake and, well, literally, she repeats “I go to everything!” Linda says she definitely will be at Maui Monday. She’s pictured with Sharon Curcio, who says, in addition to the great amenities, she loves the concerts and New Year’s Eve party. She couldn’t decide on a favorite event but thinks she will probably go to Maui Monday.

The Jamail family – dad Nathan, mom Shannon, and daughters Savannah and Paige – moved to Canyon Lake last February. They say that, so far, the Easter Carnival, Fiesta Day and the 4th of July have been their favorite events. “We absolutely love it here!” they say, “and can’t wait to see what Halloween and Christmas will be like!” They are excited to attend the Maui Monday festivities.

At far left, Kevin Thayer says he really enjoys the Car Show, but the Ski Shows are by far his favorite events (especially since he is a performer!). He plans to be at Maui Monday. Nate Volk says the Boat Parade is his favorite Canyon Lake event. He is planning to come to Maui Monday. Tim and Linda Topping are relatively new to Canyon Lake, having moved here one year ago. They are excited to be involved in many of the upcoming holiday events but say that, so far, the best has been the 4th of July, which was “phenomenal!” They are very much looking forward to Maui Monday.
