If watching Novak battle Federer to win Wimbledon for the third time at the All England Club this summer inspired you to take up tennis or play more, there are loads of cool apps to help your game – from helping you master your swing and find local people ready for a game to getting helpful tools and tips.

Whether you’re a casual or competitive tennis player, the following apps serve as a great starting point to analyze your swing and to help improve your overall tennis skills.

  • Tennis Tracker: There are several apps that let you keep track of the score but this app ranks among the best. There are three versions: the free version called Lite, the Score version for $4.99, and the Professional version for $12.99.

All of them allow you to keep not just the score of the match but statistics from the match as you watch. You tap in the outcome of the point and the app does the rest, providing statistics on your shots and showing your winners and losers. It’s a great tool for coaches, parents, players and even fans.

  • The Tennis App: This app was developed by Bob and Mike Bryan, the number 1 doubles team in the world. It provides instruction for all the essential shots and teaches correct technique through interactive videos. Each shot is broken down into phases and each phase features animation combined with instruction from the very players who are dominating the sport.

Each analysis begins with a video overview of the entire stroke. The stroke is then divided into its own sequence. You can also pause the lesson and watch it frame by frame to study every detail. There are dozens of free lessons and hints available. This app also allows you to stay up to date on the latest in tennis news and scores, and gives you the ability to track your favorite players.

  • Tennis Serve-O-Meter: You’ll need a friend to film your swing for this app but it will be well worth it. It offers slow-motion and frame-by-frame replays, along with timing your serve to see how fast it’s going.

It allows you to measure your serve speed accurately by using an algorithm that considers air resistance and fall due to gravity, which will calculate the initial speed. Plus you can share your results.

  • Tennis Edge Academy: Like Tennis Serve-O-Meter, this app also allows you to watch what your shots look like; though this app offers 3D animations that can be rotated and watched from any angle, plus you can watch it in slow motion.

It assists in developing your technique and improving your footwork and court strategy, plus it’s fun to watch your play in slow motion.

  • Fitivity Tennis Training: This app helps players improve their tennis skills, elevate their game to the next level, and teach how to execute different types of techniques while also providing drills to help practice these fundamentals.

Most workouts will go over basic and advanced serves and provide drills to help you practice these serves. The serves include flat serve, topspin serve, kick serve and slice serve. It offers beginner workouts where it breaks down these serves into smaller parts so you can easily learn and master correct form and technique.

It also features instructional video coaching, animated demonstrations with detailed descriptions, the ability to track workouts and exercises that have been completed, beginner to advanced workouts, warm-ups, cool-downs, tips, secrets and an overview of the workout. This is for players who are serious about the game.

  • Tennis Buddy and Tennis Battle: Both these apps allow you to find a local tennis partner. They are very easy to use by entering a few details about yourself, level of play, and the location where you’re looking to play.

There are several players on both of these apps in Canyon Lake and the surrounding areas.

  • Tennis Round Robin: Ever have trouble assigning doubles players? Players are assigned a number, then this app generates a random combination for doubles players.

It produces fair and various combinations and accommodates late comers. It allows you to give players a rest who may want to skip a game or two. And it allows you to have the same pairs practice a number of combinations. It’s easy to use and makes round robins enjoyable without the hassle of keeping track.

  • RacquetTune: This fun app will ensure that your racquet is ideally suited to your style of play. All you need to do is tap the strings next to your smartphone, then RacquetTune uses the sound generated to calculate the tension with reported high accuracy.

In addition, the interactive swing weight calculator aids in customizing your racquet to fit your own stroke pattern, while the stiffness calculator allows you to simulate different combinations of strings and tension so your racquet is tuned and ready for play.
