See Linda Gentile, Eagles Tribute and more

The Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild is entering its sixteenth season of bringing quality entertainment to Canyon Lake. Residents are invited to mark their calendars as the program line-up for October 2015 through September 2016 promises more of the fine performances audiences have come to expect.

Linda Gentile, “The Piano Lady,” kicks-off the new season on November 14 with her “American Piano Show.” She will perform music from famous American composers like Berlin, Foster, Gershwin, Joplin, Miller, Sousa and many more. Those who have seen Linda perform say her jovial personality and beauty add to her musical virtuosity.

Spokesperson Travis Montgomery says, “If you saw her perform two years ago, you won’t want to miss this new show. If you missed her last time, don’t be left out this year.”

The Fine Arts Guild has arranged for the “Gary Bonner Christmas Program” to be held Sunday afternoon, November 29. This date caps off the Thanksgiving weekend and kicks off the Christmas Season on the only mutually available date for the Choir and the Lodge.

In the spring, a “Tribute to the Eagles” will be provided by the Southern California-based “The Long Run” on March 12. It will feature classic Eagles’ songs “Lyin’ Eyes,” “Best of My Love,” “Desperado” and “Hotel California,” to name a few. This group performs throughout the U.S. and recently enjoyed a sold-out audience of 1,000-plus in San Juan Capistrano. It was the band’s fifth year to perform there.

In June, the annual “Picnic and Dance in the Park” will feature the music and talent of DJ/singer Rob Robinson. The date is yet to be determined.

Travis says a late September military band patriotic concert will be requested from one of three available military band units in the area. “These requests cannot be honored until at least 90 days in advance of the performance, with military commitments holding priority,” says Travis. “The date will be announced as soon as it is approved. Unfortunately, they were unable to respond positively to our requests this year.”

The first show of the 2016/2017 season has already been booked. On November 12, 2016, Roger Hegyi, known as “True Willie,” will present his Willie Nelson tribute show. Learn more about this performer at www.truewillie.com.

As in the past, all performances will be in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge and tickets will be available at the POA Office and Brown Paper Tickets (brownpapertickets.com).

The Fine Arts Guild Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at 5:30 p.m. in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. All members are encouraged to attend and RSVP to Marlene Marich at 951-244-5193 or Dee Zasio at 951-244-0123. Those interested in membership can also contact them.
