Paddlers and pedal boaters cruise the East Bay

PIC-14-Regatta-thumbs-up-29 PIC-12-Regatta-cute-dog-25Organizers didn’t get an actual count of those who turned out for the Paddle and Pedal Regatta last Saturday, but it appeared that between 75 and 100 people (and a few of their children and pets) challenged the heat wave with the morning cruise through the East Bay.

Afterward, many stayed for the barbecue at Indian Beach where they paid $5 for the lunch of burgers, hot dogs, chips, salad and beverage. They also could buy opportunity tickets for prizes donated by Sup N Safari, Nomad Ventures, Suplove and Impact Promotional Products.

Between the lunch tickets and drawing tickets, the Fitness and Triathlon Club raised $305 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, according to spokesperson Karin Cassidy.

Karin says the club would like to thank the vendors who came out to demo boards and kayaks, as well as the participants and volunteers who made the event a success.
