Family Matters Club

The Canyon Lake Family Matters Club will hold its next meeting on September 1, 6 to 8 p.m., at the last Taco Tuesday of summer. The club will set up canopies on the sand and host a sand castle-building contest and pirate treasure dig. Bring dinner or buy it at Taco Tuesday. Also, the club is looking for volunteers to help with several upcoming events.

The Family Matters Club is open to all residents, young and old, kids or no kids. Monthly meetings are held the first day of the month, unless otherwise noted, and revolve around a fun theme with speakers, games, prize drawings, crafts, snack and social time. Locations vary. Kids Club

Kids Club is back in session with meetings every Tuesday and Thursday. With music, games, crafts, snacks and more, it’s a fun way for the little ones to spend mornings and make new friends. Photo by Dayna Cascario

Kids Club is up and running again. During the school year, Kids Club meetings are held every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the Sunset Beach Room at the Lodge. Kids Club is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session. Buy a 10-class punch card and get two classes free. Check the Canyon Lake Kids Club Facebook page for details.

Jr. Women’s Club

The Jr. Women’s Club will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, September 2, at 7 p.m., at the home of Kim Whitlow, 29933 Clear Water Dr. Those interested in meeting the ladies of the JWC and/or obtaining information on joining the club are welcome.

The JWC holds several events during the year such as the Lodge Holiday Boutique, Winter Festival (Tree Lighting Ceremony), a golf tournament, the Easter Carnival and a new Renaissance Faire scheduled for October 17.For more information, contact Jennifer Nahay at 951-733-2919 or canyonlakejwc@gmail.com.

Woman’s Club

The next luncheon meeting of the Woman’s Club is on September 16 at 10 a.m. Ladies are invited to come for a social hour that includes coffee and shopping at vendor displays beginning at 9 a.m. The speaker will be Doreen Harrison, CFO and co-founder of “Honor Flight Southland.” She will be speaking about her experiences assisting veterans to visit Washington D.C. to view and reflect at their memorials. Ladies are asked to wear red, white and blue in honor of veterans. Also, members will be drawing names for the very popular Secret Sister program.

The lunch menu includes beef and vegetable lasagna, green salad, garlic bread, bread pudding and beverage. The deadline for reservations or cancellations is 5 p.m. Sunday, September 6. The Woman’s Club meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Lodge. It is a philanthropic organization dedicated to helping others in the community. The club also gives scholarships to local students to help them with college. For more information, contact Membership Chair Sue Collins at 951-246-2773.

Art Association

An exhibit by the Canyon Lake Art Association is on display in the Senior Center featuring works by Franco Pepe, Marilyn Latimer, Christy Bruce and Leann Kluck.

The first meeting of the new season is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center. Joseph Oakes tentatively is scheduled as the art demonstrator.

The Monday Ad-hoc Painters are still painting on Monday nights during the summer, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Senior Center. For more information, visit www.canyonlakeartassociation.com.

Canyon Lake Association of Men

Save the date for the annual Laughlin trip, scheduled for September 13 to 15. Tickets are now on sale. Spaces are limited. Hotel and transportation is included in the ticket price.

Tennis Club

The Tennis Club invites residents to come out for Social Play on Mondays and Fridays at 8 a.m. It is open to all levels of players and is a way to meet other players without committing to a schedule. Yacht Club

Meetings of the Yacht Club are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Lodge. Boat ownership is not a criterion for membership. Members enjoy fun events throughout the year, including the Moonlight Cruise, Progressive Dinner, Lake Clean-Up and more. Ski Club

The Canyon Lake Ski Club began in 1970 and is the largest 3-event USA Water Ski sanctioned club in the United States. Members of all ages and skill levels participate in slalom, trick, and jump skiing at both the North Ski Area and Jump Lagoon year round.

With many Regional and National champions in its membership, improving individual skills through coaching and development is an ongoing routine for the club. For membership and general information, visit www.canyonlakeskiclub.com.

Pinochle Club

New members are welcome to join the Pinochle Club, which plays every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center. For more information, call Marlys Shilling at 951-244-4241.

Canyon Lake Association of Men

The Canyon Lake Association of Men (CLAMS) is an organization that has been in existence for the men of Canyon Lake for the last 42 years. CLAMS welcomes men of all ages who would like to participate in activities promoting the Canyon Lake community. Dues are $25 per year. CLAWS

All Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) group bunco on the second Wednesday of the month in the Magnolia Room, downstairs at the Country Club. The cost is $10 per player. Participants are asked to bring canned and packaged food for the community cupboard. Game begins at 3 p.m., please arrive 15 mins early to pick up game card and sign in. Bible Club

The Canyon Lake Bible Club meets on Thursday evenings, at 7 p.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church, facilitated by Richard Cunha.

Bosom Buddies

The Bosom Buddies mission is to educate, inspire and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their breast cancer journey. Fitness and Triathlon Club

Car Club

The Car Club holds meetings the first Thursday of each month at the Lodge. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 6:30. Learn about upcoming events, listen to guest speakers and share automotive experiences. Finger foods will be served and a 50/50 drawing will round out the evening. Roadrunners

Roadrunners RV Club dinner meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. Twirler Square Dance Club

The Twirlers meet on Wednesday evenings in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. There is a workshop for experienced dancers from 6:15 to 7 p.m. This is followed by the Twirlers Class from 7 to 9 p.m. with instructor Vic Kaarie. Former dancers are always welcome. Dress is casual. Water Ski Club

Residents interested in joining the Water Ski Club are invited to visit canyonlakeskiclub.com for membership forms, information and news about the club. The club is comprised of skiers of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced. In addition to having 365 days of access to one of the nicest slalom courses in the country, the club hosts several ski competitions and community events, including Breakfast with Santa, Polar Bear Day, Learn to Ski Days and the Fiesta Day Ski Show.
