Letter: Love My Community

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

I genuinely appreciate all the concerns that Canyon Lake residents have about our town, but sometimes it becomes a bit overwhelming to read all of the negative comments being posted on some of the Canyon Lake Facebook pages. Can we try something different for a change? What is it about Canyon Lake that makes you happy to call it home?

For me, it’s waking up to such a beautiful environment filled with so many of God’s creatures. It’s waving “Hi” to happy families in their golf carts with their adorable, sun-kissed children waving back from the back seat.

It’s walking around the beach near the Lodge and seeing the familiar flock of geese waddling by in perfect order. It’s our amazing patriotism and our spectacular 4th of July fireworks show that displays it. It’s the way we honor our veterans and those who are currently serving our great nation.

It’s knowing that, in a pinch, a woman who couldn’t afford school clothes for her daughter was blessed beyond measure when she reached out to our community! It’s knowing that when a resident is hurting in any way, shape or form there are many amazing people in our wonderful city who will reach out to them and circle the wagons/golf carts around them in their time of great need. That’s just a few of the many reasons why I love my community.
