Scholarship Pageant is still accepting applicants

Can you see yourself riding on a float in the Fiesta Day Parade and a boat in the Holiday Parade of Lights? How about dressing up to help with the Parade of Frights and and wearing a tiara to other community events? Being a member of the Royal Court and Talent Court provides these opportunities and more during one’s year of service.

CoCo Morrison and Janelle Basham, directors of the Miss Canyon Lake Scholarship Pageant, say they are excited about the upcoming pageant. This year’s theme will be “The Sixties.”

CoCo says, “This is a great opportunity for girls and young women, ages 5 to 25 residing in Canyon Lake, to give back by volunteering their time to our community.”

The Miss Canyon Lake Scholarship Pageant is a tradition that has been ongoing for many years in Canyon Lake. This program emphasizes the ability of the Royal Court and Talent Court to participate in community service, volunteer service and education.

All Miss and Teen contestants will be required to have interviews, know facts about their community, and have a platform outlining a community service or volunteer program that they will actively promote within Canyon Lake. Anyone competing for Miss Canyon Lake must be a senior in High School or currently attending college.

There is a talent competition in the program; however, it is optional and is not a requirement to be in the Pageant.

The next sign-up date is July 27, at 6:30 p.m., in the POA Conference Room. The Pageant is scheduled for August 29, at 7 p.m., at the Lodge.
