Enthusiastic crowd shows up for ‘Quarter Mania’

Several individuals came away big winners in the inaugural “Quarter Mania” event last Sunday, July 18, at the Lodge. It was hosted by the Family Matters Club; with club founder and spokesperson Shawna Bowen saying it got so many compliments, the club is planning to host a Holiday Quarter Mania before the holidays.

More than 100 bidders checked in at 1 p.m. Each received a goody bag and three tickets to deposit into the gift drawings. Before the auction portion of the event started, the bidders had time to shop each of the vendors that supported the event with special sales, donations and auction prizes.

The vendor list included Damsel in Defense, Scentsy, Jamberry, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Harvest 2 U, My Smart Home Solar, The Nifty Necklace, Bows & Tutus, Dove Chocolate, 31 Bags, Plexus, Younique and Perfectly Posh.

The auction started with a lesson on how to play Quarter Mania; some won gift certificates for free burritos at Miguel’s Jr. during this learning process. During the first round, participants could place 75-cent bids on items valued at $50 or more.

“The crowd quickly caught on and enjoyed the fun,” says Shawna.

PIC-23-QMAfter the first round, there was time for more shopping and checking out items at the raffle table and silent auction table. Items on the silent auction table included a Clippers ball autographed by Matt Barnes and Lakers wine glasses. The Family Matters Club offered nachos, hot dogs, pizza and beverages for purchase.

Next was the 50-cent round for items valued between $25 and $50. Shawna says, “We had some super lucky winners whose numbers just seemed to get pulled over and over!”

Tammy and Randy Revard, Ashley Moorman and Lisa Beckett and her girls took home lots of nice goodies. Everyone who came took home a goody bag so no one left empty-handed. There also were some free auctions and more chances to win burritos from Miguel Jr’s.

PIC-30-QMProceeds from this event will go toward the philanthropic activities of the Family Matters Club. Learn more at the club’s Facebook page: Canyon-Lake-Family-Matters-Club.
