Robinson Cruise

Ed and Diane Robinson celebrated Diane’s 70th birthday the week of July 6 by taking a short cruise to Mexico aboard the Carnival Inspiration.

They left from San Pedro Harbor, spent a day at Catalina Island, then took two more days to cruise to Ensenada where they were anchored at sea for two days.

Diane says the slow passage gave the passengers time to have “lots of fun!” She adds, “The food was the best we ever tasted – really. The service throughout the ship couldn’t have been better and the entertainment was great. We felt like king and queen!”

Rice family in Lake Tahoe

A42-PIC-2-Rice-Tahoe-firepit Lake Tahoe was the destination for a Rice family vacation in the second week of June. Sharon Rice joined her three children, their spouses and two grandbabies in a cabin they rented on the North Shore. Josh, Jeremy and Heather grew up in Canyon Lake and now are married to Allison, Lindsay and Chris, respectively.

Allison’s mother also joined the family on this vacation, which included a hike to Vikingsholm near South Shore, as well as golf and shopping outings, kayaking and paddle-boarding on the lake, and off-roading on the famous Rubicon Trail in Chris and Heather’s Rubicon Jeep.

A42-PIC-1-near-far-Rices-in-TahoeSharon, pictured at right in the Jeep, says making meals together, playing games and enjoying s’mores at the fire pit were among the treasured daily activities, not to mention the fun of having a 12-month-old and 15-month-old to keep everyone on their toes (and knees).

John and Shannon Kush celebrated their second anniversary and first family vacation since the birth of their 7-month-old son, Dorian Kush, by staying at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico from July 6 to 12.

Shannon says they enjoyed swimming in the “beautiful cenotes,” natural swimming holes formed by the collapse of porous limestone caverns. They also appreciated their visit to the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, one of the new seven wonders of the world, where Dorian is pictured with The Friday Flyer.

Pictured with them is the tournament winner, Jeff Maggert, wearing the straw hat. The tourney was held June 25 to 28. No one in the picture is related to Maggert.
