Yacht Club awards scholarship to Cody Hankins

At its June meeting in Roadrunner Park, the Canyon Lake Yacht Club awarded a $1,000 scholarship to life-long resident, Cody Hankins.  The picnic atmosphere provided the perfect opportunity for the CLYC members to meet and interact with Cody and his proud parents, Donna and David.

All of the members were impressed with Cody’s civic, academic and athletic accomplishments, as well as his poise and maturity in speaking before the group, even bringing one of the members to jokingly question his age.

Cody graduated as valedictorian from Murrieta Mesa High School and plans to attend Stanford University in the fall, majoring in Mathematical and Computational Science, with a minor in Business Finance. His future goals include working on projects to expand the internet to developing countries.

All residents, whether boat owners or not, are invited to join the Canyon Lake Yacht Club.  Dinner-meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month.  For more information, call Commodore Bob Templeton at (310) 720-9315.
